A quarter would have been A LOT to get in a trick-or-treat bag...
back in 1966.
shareHeck yeah, 25 pieces of 1 cent candy.
shareyeah, and plus that is rare. I wish people would toss 25 bucks whenever I got trick or treating lol. the candy stuff in this film are more....unique. Packages of gum, quarter and a rock of course

My inflation calculator says "What cost $.25 in 1966 would cost $1.54 in 2006."...

That inflation calculator probably uses bogus government inflation data which seriously understates true inflation. A pre-1965 quarter was made up of 90% silver and 10% copper. The value of those metals found in such a quarter at today's prices is valued at over three dollars.
And I know this TV special came out in 1966 and not 1964 (the last year when quarters were 90% silver), but they were still commonly found and circulated until heavy inflation started hitting in the early 1970's when Nixon closed the gold window.
