No I think that The Great Pumpkin simply was not real in the first place and that Linus was some crazy psychopath on that night.

You mean when she is dumping on Linus for missing Halloween? By then, it didn't matter. She sat there thinking Linus was correct and the only thing that came out was Snoopy. As for Linus, he just stayed there thinking maybe he will show up and he didn't. And if GP is so sensitive, maybe it just isn't worth it waiting for his ass.
