Where I don't watch this wonderful show. I'm so grateful for the Holiday DVD collection my wife bought me.
One thing I've always regretted -- that Vince Guaraldi only released "The Great Pumpkin Waltz". I would love to have some of the other songs such as the "Spooky song" that plays during the opening credits, as well as the very sad and haunting piece that's played during Snoopy's "travels" across the french countryside. If anyone have ever heard of these actually being recorded, I'd be grateful for the info -- [email protected]
Hi. I don't know anything about the songs. But every Halloween I have to watch this movie. Im only 13 and I'm obsessed with the Peanuts. One of my favorite qoutes is from this movie. "I got a rock" Anyways sorry I couldn't help you out
kelsey 9 out of 10 voices in my head say im sane i got a rock
I can't find a music score either and I would love to have one. I did send an email to fantasyjazz.com per the email titled 'Lets get a soundtrack'. Maybe if more people inquire, they will release one.
I've always gotta watch the Charlie Brown specials during the holidays. This year will be the first time I've ever seen this particular special though. Actually, I might have seen a little bit of it as a youngster, but I don't remember what happened.
Anyways, Thanksgiving wouldn't be the same without Charlie Brown...neither would Christmas.
And this might surprise you, but I'm actually a 19 year old male. No, not one of those queer types either....I'm actually into sports more than anything else. But deep down, I'm the Clark Griswald of my family. Tradition is everything to me.
I'm all about tradition too. I was mad when TNT had the rights to the wizard of oz :O I think it should have remained on cbs! Ha! But this is such a cute cartoon. It plays Tuesday...I think on ABC. I have the vhs. Poor Cahrlie Brown and his rocks. What the hell were the adults thinking?? "I'll grab a rock and give it to Chuck" they were all out to get him :O ';)
I absolutely adore the Peanuts gang. They're a tradition in my home every holiday. My favorite character has got to be Snoopy. That laugh just cracks me up!
Charlie Brown is my hero. ^.^ I, too, have never missed the It's the Great Pumpkin, or A Charlie Brown Christmas. Hopefully, I never will, either. :D Charles Schultz is a genius.
Blessed are the cracked, for we are the ones who let in the light.
Great Pumpkin is one of the many holiday specials that I will actually rearrange my schedule to see. :) It's just tradition, it has to be watched with commercials. This is one I never miss, along with A Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph, The Grinch (the original, but the live action movie was great too), and a Garfield Christmas. Ahhh, nothing like the holidays. :)
Ahh! I looove Garfield Christmas! They never air it on TV anymore during the holidays. I don't know if I've known anyone else who's seen it other than my sister and I.
Oh heck yes! I LOVE Garfield, and have made it a point not to miss his Christmas special, either. ^_^ Anyone ever seen the Garfield Halloween special? :D
Blessed are the cracked, for we are the ones who let in the light.
Yes, I watched it every October on CBS when it came on as well, from the mid 1970s to the mid 1990s. I always loved Halloween as a child, and continued to as a teenager and adult, and this special was one of the big parts of it for me. And even though I liked all the Peanuts holiday specials, this one was my favorite. My first memories of it are from the mid 1970s when I was 5 or 6, but it premiered on Thursday night, October 27, 1966, and this month will be its 40th anniversary. I was born in 1968, and would not remember its first few showings, but always looked foward to and really liked it after I began seeing it. I did not see it for a few years after the mid 1990s as had no acess to TV, but did watch it in a store in October, 2004 when it came on ABC, and really liked it as much as I has all those earlier years. I hope to see it again this year, and even more so due to its 40th anniversary (and keep that in mind this month, this special will turn 40!). It has all the things that did make Halloween so good for me as a child in the 1970s, then a teenager and adult in the 1980s/1990s, and since then as a thirtysomething (the children getting their costumes and going trick or treating, then to a Halloween party, the scary figures and carving the pumpkin into a jack o latern at the beginning, and the falling leaves and cool weather atmosphere throughout). I knew, however, there was no such thing as a Great Pumpkin.

I saw it the first time it was broadcast in 1966, and I've watched it every Halloween since then. As of last night (Halloween 2022), that's fifty-seven times.
