Re: Great Pumpkin and another Peanuts episode?

According to the imdb page, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" has a runtime of 25 minutes. However, tonight it was a full hour. The first half was "Great Pumpkin" but the second half was a plot about Linus running for student body president. I'm assuming that that was originally a separate Peanuts show, and probably filmed *before* "Great Pumpkin" as during Linus' campaign speech, he mentions that Halloween will be coming soon -- which seems odd after just having seen the "Great Pumpkin" plot. Does anyone know what the original title of this second plot was?

The second program is called "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown" and premiered in October, 1972, about 6 years after "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." No idea why they double up episodes nowadays unless it's just to fill a 1 hour (more or less anyway) timeslot.

But yeah, both were originally standalone programs what had nothing to do with each other.

They do these doubled up hour formats because its the only way they can show the original classic sixties show in its entirety now adays and cram in all the extra commercials TV shows have these days. I watched both the half hour and hour format and they cut out at least two scenes in the half hour time slot earlier in the month to get in more commercials. They do this with the Christmas special too.
