Which es better 'to catch a thief' or 'to steal a million' ??
I haven't seen either.. Only some parts of "how to steal a million" when I was like 8 , I'm 23 now..
Paul Avery: Someone should write a *beep* book, that's for sure.

They're both great flicks. I might rate To Catch a Thief slightly higher, just because of the iconic scenes (Grace Kelly slamming the door in Cary Grant's face, and then the fireworks scene) and more overall tension (it is Hitchcock, after all), but whether you like one more than the other would probably depend on which actors you like better--Cary Grant & Grace Kelly, or Peter O'Toole and Audrey Hepburn.
shareI'd take How to steal a million any day, though I don't dislike To Catch a Thief. There is something magical about Million that I don't find in Thief. It's just a 'feel' thing. John Williams' score certainly contributes to this feeling, but it's not just that. Don't take my word for it though. As this thread demonstrates, people disagree. I'd recommend watching both and making up your own mind.
shareI'd say just what Ryan does. And I'd add that yes, To Catch a Thief is a good film - but for my money, Audrey Hepburn is a far better and more sympathetic actress than Grace Kelly. Moreover, this film has a true ingenuity at its heart that isn't really there in to Catch a Thief. This is neater.
This movie is also much wittier - line by line of dialogue, it's exceptionally funny. In this respect, To Catch a Thief - though hardly meant to be a dark film - is more of a drama and less reliant upon its lightness than How to Steal a Million.
And without denigrating Landis and the others in To Catch a Thief, this film has such wonderful supporting performances by Griffiths, Boyer and Wallach.
Both are beautiful films - the colors, fashion, sets, they're just great to see!
You can't really compare the two since to catch a thief is a suspense thriller while how to steal a million is a heist film with MANY comedic elements.
WE ARE THE BORG. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.
I agree; that is what I was going to say. It's unfair to compare these two movies.
But, they're both good.
So, to the OP, go watch them and decide for yourself.
My favorite is a tie between
• "How to Steal a Million" (1966)
and
• "Hot Millions" (1968)
Peter Ustinov
Maggie Smith
Karl Malden
Bob Newhart
and Cesar Romero in a wonderful cameo that stole the show.
Unfortunately, I can't find it on disk anywhere.
