Loved and Adored
I absolutely loved and adored this movie. I hope the rest of you feel the same way....
shareI absolutely loved and adored this movie. I hope the rest of you feel the same way....
shareFor my part, it's one of my favourites. (I gave it a 10).
The plot is smart and funny, the lead actors (Audrey Hepburn who is my fav. actress of all time and Peter O'Toole - another favourite of mine) are absolutely charming and you can see some chemistry between them. And as for the script.... almost flawless :)
One of my favorite movies ever! I found myself thinking about it while watching Ocean's Twelve actually. Today caper movies are so complicated, and that can be alot of fun, but there is something so elegant about this movie. It is simple, and it works, and is wonderfully funny. It is my favorite comedy hands down.
~If you say "I had everything under control" one more time I'm going to slap you with my guitar.~
The security guards reminded me of the Keystone Kops.
shareI just saw it for the first time - I'd barely heard of it - and also found myself thinking of Ocean's Eleven in the same way. Ocean's Eleven is wonderfully clever, and has a sort of wonderful elegant efficiency - like a Swiss watch -
but it does not feel romantic (especially not compared to this movie) and is not nearly as funny as this film.
This was WAY better than I anticipated. Line by line by line, this is so witty and charming and funny.
I found myself so wishing that O'Toole and Hepburn could both be alive and that age now and making more movies together that I coujld see at my local theater. They are absolutely charming together.
It's also such an interesting contrast to all the comedies in which Hepburn was paired with someone 15, 20, 30 years older than she - O'Toole is as energetic, as young, and as fun as she is.
What a wonderful actor he is. Just wonderful - even the smallest of things they both do constantly delight - a tribute to the great director William Wyler and Kurnitz (whom I'd not even heard of before this) as much as to the two actors.
The way the story is told is wonderful too - they allow it to naturally and gradually develop - we aren't fed too much at any time - and it's great all the way.
I'm so glad I discovered it.

I too felt the same way once I had watched it for the first time today (early early morning). It is one of my all-time favorites now. I was also so glad to see someone audrey's age that almost had the same charisma that she did. No one is like her. It is too bad that she isn't alive, but that way I don't dwell on certain things, if you catch my drift.
shareI loved this when I first watched it. While it's not in my top 3 favorite Audrey movie, I still adore it and consider it a good, rainy-day movie!
Hold my hand and we're half way there...
Peter O'Toole. Isn't he just wonderful? For me he's the best part of this movie, his voice, the way he delivers his lines. Of course Audrey is so lovely (most beautiful eyes of Hollywood...). Hugh Griffith is also a delight. The story, the dialogues, the charm & wit, Paris... This movie is among my ten favourites, and my favourite Paris movie.
I can do anything I want to Baby, I ain't lost
I didn't really expect that much from the film, but it was very well played and directed and the on screen chemistry between the two main characters was brilliant....I can't help but recommand Audrey Hepburn films in general!

Sorry, but I don't see how. I just LOVED it. I saw it for the first time yesterday, and I've watched it three times since then. It is definitely on my list on favorites ever. The acting was great, the script was great, and the whole thing was just so fun. William Wyler's got some pretty impressive credentials too.

Anybody know if this is on DVD? It should have been part of the Hepburn Collection! It's a ridiculously cool film and My God Peter is sexy as hell in it!
