I'm surprised nobody has commented on this film.

I bought it before having seen it. I read reviews, knew of it, and took the chance. I was not disappointed. This is a great "period piece." It is a bit dated, but it doesn't lose anything because of it. It's as fun to watch today as I'm sure it was in the 60's.

This movie is the reason I longboard now.

I'm watching this movie right now on ESPN Classic. I've always been interested in surfing, but now I REALLY want to learn how to surf! Maybe one day...

This film is an absolute CLASSIC that has largely fallen by the wayside...it is a simple work that tells a simple story that was shot on an absolute shoestring budget...and was a HUGE success...I saw this in a theater in 1967 in Lompoc, CA at the age of 6...I became a bellyboarder and started @ Gaviota, Refugio, and El Capitan because of how fun this film made the sport seem. At the age of 13, my family and I moved to Ventura, which is another coastal spot with great surf...I became addicted...I am 42 now and still surf off Huntington Beach when I get the chance...Every 5 or 6 years I revisit this film and enjoy it all over again...My two young children will watch the next time with me!
