My Dad The Surfer

I had a good conversation with my Dad tonight about the surf scene back in 61-63. He grew up in southern California at that time. He was telling me about surf dances where Dick Dale was playing on stage. My Dad also told me about all of the car clubs with greasers like the pistons and the pharaohs going to the surf dances just to hit on the girls. He was in his senior year of high school at the time. He said it was the greatest time America had scene and just a few years later in came the Hippies. Not the ones that lived in the communes. He was talking about the trendy hippies. The lazy ones that didn't give a damn about anything. Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll. He hated when everything changed. I admire him. I want to be like him. That is why I have my pompadour and a surf board. I speak Spanish like he did and I'm friends with the Latinos. I want to be a little bit of everything from that time period.

Sounds pretty sweet, but you should forge your own path.. had your dad done everything his dad did, you wouldn't have such a unique story to live up to..
