Just A Suggestion For Theatrical Re-Release
I think this film would be INCREDIBLE on an IMAX screen!!!

Absolutely, however (uh oh,here we go) who is to put forward the money to blow up the negative to 70mm. Anyone remember how good Fantasia looked in 70mm. Neither do I. Plus the soundtrack would need a ton of cleaning up, not to also add that it's mono and tinny at best. Not exactly a winning proposition for re-release.
shareI don't think it's so much a question of money, as more of a question of image. The original 16mm would look horrible blown up to 70mm, even with IMAX's new scanning technology. The DVD I have, even at 480p on a 32" Sony Bravia, looks pretty grainy.
Not to mention the fact that the original film/negatives are probably not in the best shape. Just not enough information there to warrent the blow up.

After i saw what they did with Casablanca(1942), i think they could do a great job restauring this movie's original print.
