Grinch wearing clothes, not naked after all...

Did anyone else notice that the Grinch is actually wearing a one piece body suit with shoes? You'll notice his neck collar which separates his suit from his skin. And if you look at the book's illustrations you'll notice one where he has his hands in his pockets across his abdomen. Also notice how most of the Who's are wearing similar body suits, only their's are different colors from their skin.

And that's one more detail the dreadful live action remake got wrong, where they have Jim Carrey Grinch appear as a clothes-less green cat-like creature.

In the book and in the animated film the Grinch is a variation of a Who and not an anthrpomorphic feline like the Cat in the Hat.

I don't think it's a neck collar. I don't know what it is, but Kermit the Frog has one too.

The thing Kermit wears is called a collar. Henson put it to hide the separation in his neck and body when he moves his head. Most of the Muppets are built that way and have something around their necks to hide it.

Not so much with the Sesame Street Muppets, or Rowlf. (Steering further off topic) It looks like Kermit moves his head the same as most of the Muppets, either by the neck twisting, or moving his whole body.

It depends on the situation. If need be, Kermit and most of the Muppets can turn their heads. Yes, Rowlf is a sack body and most of the Sesame Street Muppets are sack bodies or full costumes.

I wound up watching several (okay, eight) episodes after that one I linked; in the Christopher Reeve episode, Kermit isn't wearing his collar in at least one scene.

Multiple Kermits? Gonzo was baring his chest in part of the Julie Andrews episode. I haven't seen any turn their heads to the side without twisting yet. I think only a character without a neck would need their head to turn that way.

There were certainly multiple versions of every Muppet and you can see the seams in the necks of the frog puppets in that musical number.

IMO Anything with Jim Carrey in it is wrong. I can't stand him. I just can't stand him.

reply

The reason he didn't wear pants was simple: he was a naughty Grinch!

reply

I liked Carrey in his very early stuff, but also have reached the point where I won't watch anything he's in.
