When did you first hear of this film?

I saw it advertised at some drive-in that used to exist outside of Philadelphia. I had to be at least six years old since the film was made in 1966 and I was born in 1960. My belief is that I was at the drive-in to see "Cool Hand Luke" and I distinctly remember the clip playing between movies. It's possible that I was a little bit older and that "TG,TB,ATU" was a secondary feature to "The Planet of the Apes" at that drive-in. I wish I can remember those details, but I can still remember being in my Dad's '55 Ford, kneeling on a pillow over the driveshaft hump on the floor of the car. I really miss the drive-in days. They were a real treat for us kids.

I took a film class in university and this was one of the last films on the list, so I figured we were just watching it for fun. To my astonishment, the prof was presenting this film as a milestone film to be studied, not unlike other "art" films like Citizen Kane and Touch of Evil. That made me curious, considering I had always considered it to be a "cool" movie for "entertainment" only.

(Plus, I remember the critical drubbing that "Squint" Eastwood took in his day.)

I wasn't born until 73 and my dad showed me the trilogy in the early 80s. I've been a huge fan ever since. He had a cassette tape of some of the music from the movies and I used to go to bed listening to it. I'd fall asleep and have dreams about the movie every time I did that. Lol
