MICHAEL PALIN??

From Wikipedia

In a scene near the end, The Yardbirds perform "Stroll On". Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck play side by side until Beck smashes his guitar copying The Who. Michael Palin of Monty Python's Flying Circus fame can be seen very briefly in the crowd in this scene,[citation needed] and future media personality Janet Street-Porter can be seen dancing in stripey trousers

Take a look

Im not sure, but he looks a lot like Palin

reply

Which one is he supposed to be? I cant find him...

reply

He's to the right of the guy with the glasses.

reply

Yes- Does look a lot like MP. The guy in the glasses too is a face fron the 1960's that I have seen elsewhere.

Oh Dear, I think I should go to bed now......

reply

That question has been raised before (and people have been noticing all kinds of other celebritis in that crowd as well, it's almost a game:)), but no, there was no Michael Palin there....

He looks nothing like him.

More like Sarah Palin...

I think that's just an Englishman.

I AM NOT MONTEL WILLIAMS.

I saw that on Wikipedia before I watched that part of the film and I was looking SO hard for Micheal Palin, but I never spotted him. I was concerned Wikipedia had failed me so thanks for the pic OP :)

I split my sides laughing over that!!! ROFLMFAO good one!!

Seriously, though, I've read several sources that say that IS Michael Palin. I'm not sure if they all were just quoting each other or if they had reputable sources to that claim, but apparently more people than not say it's him, and now I think it is, as well.

And speaking of that part, the guy who picks up the guitar neck off the street was supposedly supposed to be someone famous, but I believe it is just a rumor & turned out to be not true...but at the moment, I can't remember who it is supposed to be. Anyone remember? Someone from the Byrds, maybe?

reply

I think it is Jeff Beck himself who picks up the neck outside!

reply

I don't think it's him. At least you were able to provide a clear picture--try finding Harrison Ford in "Zabriskie Point," something NOBODY has been able to convince me of.

reply

I do think it's Michael Palin. When I first saw the movie, completely oblivious to this discussion, I immediately thought, hey, this guy in the crowd looks like Michael Palin!

It all hangs on getting a clear screenshot first of all:

And then, Wikipedia says so, based on a Filmfocus article:

Michael Palin of Monty Python can be seen briefly in the sullen nightclub crowd and Janet Street-Porter dances in stripy Carnaby Street trousers.
At the party scene, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page of The Yardbirds play on stage (as themselves), and local personalities like Michael Palin (later of Monty Python) pop up in the crowd.

I know it could all be conjecture, so it's all up to Michael himself to clarify it in the end!

LOL no one said Palin was 14 years old & magically turned 20 three years later.

First of all, this has to be the most meta thread on this board.

I thought it was Michael Palin at first, but now I no longer do...

Here are a few photos of Michael Palin within a year or two after 1966 along with a copy of the good photo above.

i think its him. now someone in england call michael and lets settle this once and for all

reply

I don't know if this is true, but interestingly enough, Antonioni's subsequent "The Passenger" has a scene shot in Janet Street-Porter's riverside flat.

I used to want to change the world. Now I just want to leave the room with a little dignity.
