Plot Hole

So after Largo has his henchman hide in Bond's shower and try to kill him, Bond gets the upper hand on him and send him back to Largo after taking the ammo out of his gun. OK now at this point:

- Bond knows Largo is up to something and he knows that Largo knows he's up to something (he sent Largo's henchman back to him knowing the henchman would tell Largo everything that Bond knows)
- Largo knows Bond is onto him and knows that Bond knows that Largo in onto him (Largo would know this because the henchman he sent to kill Bond came back to him and told him that he failed)

Therefore why would Bond go to Largo's house for lunch a day later when both men know that the other one is up to something and they both know that the other person knows that they are up to something?

reply

Brinksmanship... even though both men were fully aware that their opponent was on to them, they still believed that, even with that knowledge, they would be able to out maneuver the other and still gain the upper hand in the situation.

You could even think that each man believed that he could use the perceived knowledge that the OTHER person thought he had the upper hand as another "weapon" in the battle of wits. Kind of a "he knows that I know, but I know that he knows that I know..." thing.

Think Vizzini in the "The Princess Bride"...

Bond knows all about Largo and same for Largo but the mission is he has to find the missiles.

But why would Bond go to Largo's house knowing that Largo pretty much knows that Bond is onto him and why would Largo receive him because Largo knows that Bond knows that Largo is onto him?

I mean what should happen is Largo has Bond killed.

Also who has the upper hand here????
