Turning Point for Connery
People say that he looked bored in "You Only Live Twice", but I think that Thunderball marked the turning point for Connery
In Thunderball, he doesn't have much to do as an actor, as he did in From Russia With Love and Goldfinger
There are SOME scenes, like when he first meets Domino, and the scene where he tells Fiona that what he did was for "queen and country", where Bond has dramatic exchanges with the other characters. But not many, unlike the prior 3 films
Most of Thunderball consists of Bond just jumping from one location and action scene to the next, with Bond getting lost in the shuffle
I think Connery looks a bit overwhelmed in this one, like he's looking for someone to give him a scene where he actually has to ACT, instead of just running, swimming, and hitting people
Anyone else agree ?
