Actually, that was a great part of the film! At this point, Alan is under so much emotional pressure to try to help her that, when he starts laughing, he can't stop. It may seem disrespectful under the circumstances, but it was hysterical laughter, rather than genuine laughter (he wasn't laughing because he thought anything was funny). Laughter is contagious, so the others started laughing, too. She had every right to be angry, but they weren't laughing at her. It was just the stress of the situation boiling over in an inappropriate way. He wanted to help her so much that he couldn't control himself.
