Kind of shocking to see Van Cleef as a good guy

He was pure evil in Good, Bad and Ugly and I saw it before Few Dollars. I also had seen Escape from New York and he was kind of slimy in that too. He had some good range.

I'm more shocked at his villainy in TGTBATU. I've seen in in more good guy roles than bad.

Good Guy?
Who do you think the sniper from the opening scene is?
(Notice that the sniper scrapes his pipe while waiting)

reply

It's actually supposed to be the Man With No Name.

Who sez dat 😀?
Exept (Christopher Frayling?) on the Commentary Track?

reply

Listen to the mumbling as he's getting ready. It's Clint's voice.

You got some problem with Frayling that his word isn't good enough for you?

reply

I have no problems with CF. He seems to be a very qualified historian, having analyzed Leone’s films. And he claims, that the mumbling and humming ’behind’ the opening (sniper) scene comes from Sergio Leone himself.
He says nothing about who the sniper is supposed to be.
It’s me claiming that the scraping sounds come from the cleaning of a pipe. And who smokes a pipe?
