Can you name that Tune?

In the movie when Gordon first gives Selina the music box, he tells her to open it and it plays a melody of which he sings a chorus. Does anyone know the name and Composer of that music box tune?

I am a harpist, and I play this all the time! It's called "Il pleut il pleut Bergere" which I understand means, 'It's raining, it's raining Shepherdess.' Here is a website with the rest of the french words.

God Bless you for your response including the website. I can only imagine the sound of that beutiful melody played on the harp. Unfortunately, I can't read French, but from the site, it looks like the melody goes back to the mid 1700's? If you are aware of any recordings -intrumental and/or vocal - please advise. Thanks.

I will see if I can track it down - I'll get back to you.

In the meantime - here is some info on the composer:

Fascinating! So the composer sang the song at his trial before being lead to the scaffold. Wonder if that fact had any impact on the selection of the tune for the scene in the movie? Food for thought. Doubt it though....probably just happened to be one of many cute music box tunes.

It can be found on dozens of children's recordings CDs in Quebec. I no longer live there but I grew up there and heard it in school so many times.
