Did You Get The Impression That............SPOILER ALERT!

.......Selina's evil pig of a mother and her filthy, slimey best friend; would have done more than just having Salina cleaning up that house they were buying for their 'business'?

"OOhhhooo....I'M GON' TELL MAMA!"

Yeah, I got that impression as well. But only after a few rewatches did it finally occured me. They really were two vile old tramps! Poor Selina! She was such a sweet and gentle girl-- I cannot imagine her having to go through that kind of life, being used like that, and for her own mother's financial benefit, to top it off. It's sickening to think about.

That's why Gordon's help was so imperative, to get her away, not only from her awful mother, but also a horrible life of forced prostitution. He really changed the course of her life for the better!

reply

Yes, I also thought it was pretty clearly implied that they intended to exploit Selina that way...those women were nearing the end of their marketable years.

Oh yeah..no doubt about it.
I think one of the things this movie brought to light, besides the obvious racism.. was how neglected and abused children were of no concern ..particularly if they were poor white trash.
No one cared enough to intervene or help Selina in any way before Gordon came along. It's heartbreaking to imagine all those years she spent with those monsters.
