John Waters
must have seen this. I can't help but think that Mr. Joyboy's mom was the inspiration for Water's "Egg Lady", Edith Massey. ....."Ohhhh! It's a NEW one!"

shareThat is exactly what I was thinking. It's hard not to think of Edith when we see Joyboy's mom rolling around in food. And didn't that pig look tasty?
I suspect that this film not only inspired John Waters, but it's probably one of his favorites. It certainly fits his esthetic.
I've always wondered about that myself, the glee Mrs. Joyboy displays while watching the King Crab commercial is simply orgasmic.
shareHa, I'm with you guys. I thought the same thing when I watched that scene. Straight from a John Waters movie. I've never heard him mention it though. One of the best scenes in the movie.
shareHow funny! Earlier this afternoon I posted a comment re: the 2 quirkiest screenplays ever written, and off the top of my head said "Polyester," and "The Loved One!" Never before put them both into the same context but I guess great minds think alike!
