Question (spoilers)
If they weren't sure if Bunny was real, why didn't they ask Ann where her daughter was born and call the hospital? That would have ended all the speculation. It irritated me that no one thought of that.

shareI'm just guessing, but it may have been left out of the script because even if they called the hospital and confirmed that Ann gave birth to a girl, it didn't guarantee that the daughter was still alive when Ann arrived in England. So if the birth of a daughter had been confirmed, there still may have been the possibility of Ann being delusional about having a living daughter :(
If they were fortunate enough to have the type of technology and databases we have today, they may have been able to look up all the information they needed rather quickly.
Thank you. I didn't think of that!
sharetechnically the mother could have said she doesn't remember the name of the hospital. It's also possible it was done at home with a midwife and she certainly wouldn't have her contact information. Additionally if the police contact the United states authorities they may have had to wait awhile for the reply, but in meanwhile they still need to search for clues and the child just in case.
