Buster Keaton's best role?

It would be hard to disagree, seeing how funny he was in this.

It would be easy to dissagree! With a body of work like Steamboat Bill Jr, The General and Sherlock's Smarter Bother.

You mean "Sherlock Jr." Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother was a Gene Wilder film, if I recall correctly.

But you're right. Anybody who thinks this is top Keaton has never seen Keaton. Not that he's bad in this -- they let him be himself instead of trying to make him be somebody else -- but he's past his prime and there really wasn't the space to let him run.

I assume you just mean his best throwaway role in a Beach Blanket movie. If you want to see Buster Keaton at his funniest, go to his two-reelers (One Week, The Goat, The Play House, or Cops). If you want to see him at his sublime best, go for his more mature features (The General, Sherlock Jr., The Cameraman).

Go see some real Keaton films then get back to us!

Sherlock Jr. is so great! The scene where he enters the movie screen is brilliant.

Forever in debt to your priceless advice.
