bonehead's hat
I was mesmerized by Bonehead's hat and the initials on it which I made out to be "R.F.". It looked to me to possibly be a "Big Daddy" Ed Roth "Rat Fink" creation. Can anyone out there verify this?

shareJody McCrea played Bonehead in the 'beach' movies:

It might be. I noticed his shirt says Surf Fink on it but can never see the design close enough to see if it looks like a Big Daddy drawing.
shareYes it is indeed a Rat Fink hat, he has some shirts on in some parts of the movie too. I had my boyfriend, who owns a hot rod shop and is quite knowledgeable on the subject confirm it for me.
On another note, anyone notice the Adolf Hitler picture hanging in the pool room? No way could you have that now, the PC Police would be on you for sure!
yes there is even a Rat Fink Ed Roth car featured in the film the yellow surf car. See the documentary film "Tales of the Rat Fink"
shareRegarding the Hitler wall hanging I was surprised for just a second on this too. However if I recall correctly Von Zipper's photo was hanging in between the photos of Mein Fuhrer and Mussolini - IL Duce, in Von Zipper's pool hall lair. Apparently an attempt of Von Zipper's to equate himself with evil leaders. Mel Brooks has made a fortune neutralizing Hitler et al by making fun of them. I think this is just another example of that. Remember that when this movie was made it was only 20 years after the end of WWII and Hitler's demise. References to Hitler hit closer to home at the time and nothing was said. Today it would be like remembering events in 1992 like the first election of Bill Clinton and the LA "Rodney King" riots. So my opinion is that some PC police may be out today but they wouldn't be paid attention to -- justifiably.
