FLN=French resistance?
I've often wondered if the French took their very recent experience under German occupation during WW2 into account when they were desperately trying to hang on to the failing administrations of their colonies. Same with the Dutch trying to hang on to Indonesia.
When you think about it, the FLN rebels used tactics that were nearly identical to those used by the French resistance fighters against the Nazis. Surely there were French people-military, political, civilian, etc. - who must have realized that the whole scenario was a little too familiar.
