Paras/Foreign legion
Wasn't there a revolt from the Legion (which largely concisted of former german SS-soldiers who had not died at Dien-Bien-Phu) and the paras in this conflict ?

There where many paras there back then from germany. But the revolte had nothing at all to do with it.
the revolt was because the french gov. suddenly gave algiers back to the algerien people, they gve them independence.
thats why the legion back in Algeria felt stabbed in the back form the french gov. and ( not all legionnaires ) started a putch..........it did not last long and the back than 1 REP was dissolved and they formed the 2 REP what is now stationed in Calvi.

Basically what I said. Just you paste it out of books
shareAs a kid I remember reading about the OAS in the papers and on TV. I was around 10-11 years old. My mother was French born (war bride) and I remember her rooting for the Algerians. She said the first French soldiers killed in her presence during the German invasion of France was a black African, and was probably a Colonial soldier in the French Army. My Mom had nothing but respect for the blacks, Muslims, and other colonial troops who fought fruitlessly for the stabbed-in-the-back French Army who were sold out by their weak kneed politicians.
shareThe legion was full of Germans at the time but it's a myth that all (or most) were ex-SS (most were too young for the war and joined to get a job).
