Reminds me of Elisabeth Montgomery playing Samantha Stephens cousin Serena. Both have black hair. The cadence and tone of their voice is kind of similar. Thats all.

Funny, when I was a little kid I thought the same thing. I thought they had found a different actress that looked quite a bit like Elizabeth Montgomery to play Serena. Elizabeth was THAT good!

I hated the episodes with the mean sister and when I see one of those coming on in reruns I don't watch it.

Reading the paper can really be depressing. Mr. Dithers fired Dagwood again.

She may have been a little bit wicked but not evil. I mean she had a horrible abusive master who beat her and kept her locked up the majority of time, I can understand her frustration seeing her sister having a wonderful life with a kind master who makes NO demands of her at all.

I like them, but they seemed to have dumbed Jeannie down compared to how she was in seasons 1 and even 2.

That, and they made her less and less powerful. Dumbing her down and lessening her ability as a djinni were two of my biggest gripes.

Thankfully, when writing fanfic, I don't have to obey those limitations :)

Yes, season 1 Jeannie was actually intelligent, I don't think she would have EVER fallen for all of her sister's tricks.

Yes. It seems Jeannie had a soft spot for her sister. However, I still thought Jeannie was intelligent in later seasons. And sometimes, she outsmarted her sister.

I'm watching season 1 right now. And I have to say, Jeannie doesn't come off as all that intelligent in this season either...there were a couple of times where she was downright tricked into getting stuck in her bottle. You'd think if she was so intelligent she'd stop falling for that.

Her sister was a 1-note character, no personality other than being evil. Whereas Serena was full of personality and constantly changing. And Serena never came across as evil.

Actually, I liked Jeannie's sister more than Serena. I thought she was more wicked or selfish than evil. I always looked forward to episodes with Jeannie's sister. They're some of my all-time favorite episodes. Whereas with Serena, I could take it or leave it. Jeannie's sister was more interesting, in my opinion. Serena came off as wacky and eccentric. And her laugh reminded me of a horse....kinda annoying.
