the rock

I hate to barge in and ask a silly question while people are talking about important things in these threads, but I can't figure out how to search all the posts. I'd like to know where the rock is, where the two kids are blowing bubble gum. Some shots in that scene make it look like a set with fake rocks, but overall it looks like it was done outdoors. Is it actually in Central Park? Don't mind me...

We shot on location in Central Park, the rock was always a real rock, the gum real gum.

You are a total hoot!

Such a treat to come here and see you posting, Elizabeth. I haven't read through all of your posts...but I just wanted to leap in here and say that the film is one of my earliest film memories (you guys and "The Russians Are Coming" group), and I hold your performance particularly dear.

This comment about the rock and gum caught my eye, since I have all of the lobby cards for the film around the ceiling edge of my bathroom. So every day when I'm brushing my teeth I get to enjoy seeing you blowing a bubble and standing in a chinaman's hat with fudgesickle all over your face. :-) It's a great and cheery way to start my day. Actually, the funniest of the lobby cards is probably the reaction shot of everyone watching you descend the staircase at your parent's place. A scream!

And now I'll go back to what I WAS doing when I happened to segue over here to IMDB...I was just writing a little article for my new blog about my favorite houses in films....and how one of them is the Gilbert's, with the ever-loving "Boothie" and the clock striking six pm....

I'm sure I'll be writing more about WOHO in the future. If anyone is interested, the blog (it's brand new...there's not much there yet!) is

Take care, Elizabeth!

Hi and thanks for the reply! I hope you're doing well. From what I can see in the film, I'm guessing it's the Indian Cave, but you may have not known it by a particular name at the time. The park is huge and has a lot of features to it. I'm going to go and take pictures this fall, so maybe I'll find the spot exactly. Or not, but at least I'll get exercise meanwhile! ;-)

I think it's near that beautiful blue ached bridge...Can't really remember it clearly, sooo long ago now, I don't get the New York much at all anymore, less to central Park. Might try to find it myself soon. Please let me know if you come across it sooner.
