Can someone tell me how it ends. I watched up until the part where we find out that Val is hiding in Gil's bedroom on christmas. then they cow tow to those candles, and then that's as far as i saw... had to leave, don't think i'll actually rewatch the whole thing again... so what happens?

shareThere was another ending shot but not used... Henry Orient was happy at last playing "honky-tonk piano" in a brothel! Barbara Nichols was also in this scene. When editing the picture, the producer and director realized the movie was really about the two teenagers, not Henry Orient, so they cut the scene and ended the picture with the two girls putting on lipstick while looking in the mirror.
shareI think it helps the ending to know that one parent says to other this stage of over, thankfully. The other one replies that the next one is worse. Then the camerca shoots up to the two girls putting on lipstick, etc.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the movie. Personally, I think it's brilliant, but your mileage obviously varies.
