Girl on bus telling 'Gil' that 'Val' is going to a psychiatrist

Approximately 30 minutes into the movie there's a girl on the bus that will tell 'Gil' a secret about 'Val' for 25 cents.

Gil only has 15 cents but will pay her the dime later.

Who is the girl on the bus?

tia.

By the way thank you whitedogandharriet for your great posts. They are very interesting.

Isn't that Jane Buchanan as Lillian Kafritz? I always thought she looked like a young Sally Kellerman.

Uh ... no.

Jane Buchanon in 1955 played Mrs Somebody. It can't be her.
I've checked every listed credit.
Somewhere I've got this recorded, I thought I'd cheat before I look at the movie credits.

All I know is, for some reason, that is my favorite young girl in the film.
Though I thought 'Val' could have been really good, given the right path.

And yes, I thought your bringing up Sally Kellerman was appropriate.
The nose. The intonation of the voice, low.
Good call.

It's possible that there's more than one Jane Buchanan with film credits and the IMDb page for "Jane Buchanan" lumps all their credits together. This is a pretty common mistake at this site, where credits are submitted by the site's users, sometimes carelessly. I'm pretty sure that that character's name is "Kafritz." It stuck in my mind because the Broadway musical version enlarged her role and gave her two numbers (including a solo, "Nobody Steps on Kafritz").

Yea, I rechecked that 'jane buchanan' listing and filmson has her pegged in the bus role.

Apparently her 'career' went nowhere.

It was Jane Buchanan. She was just a great person, not probably interested in a career in acting.

Another reason Jane has disapeared occurred to me, imagine someone of Jane's obvious character entering "the business" in those days and what they would have made of her. Barbara Streisand hadn't really come out of the woodwork and Jane wouldn't have brazened it out. I followed her around the set when she was there, trying to absorb something of her presence, she was-is[somewhere]such a person. Was cast out of a "cattle call" hundreds of girls lined up. Wish I knew how she is, have a strong feeling she's fine doing something important, even if it's raising kids in a good marriage or working in a travel agency, somewhere she is being herself which just has to be great. Maybe she's a civil rights lawyer...hoping

I am truly determined this time and can only believe it isn't beyond me just me to put up a blog so I will asy that will happen in the near future. So I can unabashedly say all that I need to say in my way about everything that is going on in my life and so this world. So much to say as it happens but I bet I just get quiet after a few days of typing but I am very in love with alot of my life, the characters there and such. Wonder if and I've ben told one can post images too, right?

I was telling a friend of mine who hasn't seen the film, every time I see the snooty girl on the bus, she reminds me of Paris Hilton!

I don't think Merrie and I will be getting together any time soon, our politics are so completely opposite. Merrie as you know is very actively campaigning for those in our present administration, made alot of money doing this, extoling people I can't fathom as at all in any way worthy of their responsibilities. It would be incredibly tough for both of us to just get together for a chat. However, someone might-could put together a side by side portrait, now that could be interesting, but who would do both of us justice? Be equally completely fair to both? Maybe two portrait artists...... Sorry, I'm abit-quite punchy, been traveling in very tough company lately, defending a friend to a judge and Yale psychiatrists, incredibly daunting for the likes of me, you might imagine.
