vote this movie into the 'top 250 movies of all time' list

Hey guys,

I haven't seen this movie yet but I heard good things (mostly about the book it's based on). Anyway, I saw that it has a 8.5 rating, and with that rating it could easily make it into the IMDB 'top 250 movies of all time' list.

Thing is, the minimum amount of votes for a movie to be considered is 1300. This movie has 1266 at the time of this writing. So it's short 34 votes. If you haven't given it a star rating and you have seen this movie, and would like to see it in the top 250 list, vote for it.

I plan to do so myself after I've watched it.

This will help give the movie a bigger exposure.

You plan on voting for the movie before even seeing it?
You're a trusting person. That's nice.
But not exactly discerning.
BTW, it's a great movie.
So I'm told.

I think you misunderstood me a little bit but I don't blame you because I don't necessarily make much sense all the time. :)

Yes, I had planned on VOTING for it before seeing it, but I did not mean to imply that I had already made up my mind on what that vote would be or that I had already done so.

I just wanted to bring to people's attention that this movie is a few votes short of making the list based on its current rating. I figured people who've already seen the movie might not be aware that there is a certain amount of votes required (I wasn't aware of it myself until I began to wonder why this movie was not on the list despite its high rating). I just wanted to share that finding, basically. And voting for a movie is good, regardless whether that vote happens to be positive or negative. A larger sample makes the rating system more accurate.

PS: The movie received 5 more votes since my last time here so now it's short 25 votes from making the list.

PPS: I still haven't seen/voted for it. :)

I don't think the minimum vote is measured in this fashion at all. The Big Parade (1925) has only 1,826 votes and is lodged at #248. I think the formula is secret to prevent fanboys (10 voter) and vandals (1 voters) from more influence than they already have.

The problem is that those 1300 votes have to come from regular voters: members who had voted for hundreds of films over the years, so its very possible that this one needs more votes than those 25 you mention. Votes from casual voters (like ourself) dont count for a top 250 ranking. Thats how IMDB avoids a film getting stuffed into the top 250. You would not only need to register more than 1000 accouts, youl have to make votes for about one million movies to put your favorite one in that list.

I just heard about this movie, and plan to see it soon. You can expect me to add a vote. :)

I've been a regular member of imdb for many years, and I can't count how many films I've voted on (though there are many more I've forgotten to vote for).

well,i 'll see it soon...i'll download it actually cuz it doesn't exist in my country in any format...but DUDE you don't expect the movie to get into the top 250 movies list!! it may say that a min of 1300 votes is required but it needs MUCH MUCH more ratings than 1300 to even reach toward 250 position nowadays...go check out how many votes all those top 250 films have...thi is just a min. it doesn't mean that even if it had 8.7 rating with just 1300 votes it will appear NO WAY!!!!

I'm not sure I understand exactly how it works but it looks like you are right, 'cause the movie has gone way past 1300 (2000+ at my last count) and it's still not in the top 250.

And in case anyone's wondering--yes, I've finally seen it (and voted for it!)

Right now it's my favourite movie of all time. It's a perfect story, perfectly captured on film.

this is whats wrong with voting system and maybe our whole system as a world right now..
