Why is this movie not on the top 250 IMDB?
Woman in the Dunes has an 8.5 rating with over 1800 votes, but it does not appear in the top 250 list. By all criteria it should be there, and rank high too.

I could not imagine such a wonderful movie to be in any top whatever movie list anywhere. It has too much depth to appeal to most people who are too lazy to get to the bottom of it...

shareIt doesn't affect how great this is, and it's likely to be found by anyone likely to appreciate it. Once it's listed as "Top 250" after all a bunch of "The Matrix" and "Shawshank Redemption" fans will come over and give it 1s to drive it out.

shareI would'nt worry about IMDB's top 250. It's just about the worst 'top' movie list in the world.
If you really love your movies, which you must do to come across this gem, you will find many alternative sites for film references.
That said, IMDB is by far and away the greatest film information & reference site. Just don't place too much reliance on the ratings.

Update: Woman in the Dunes now has an 8.1 rating with over 3800 votes... so, much more votes and a much lower rating.
What I find surprising is that 443 people gave it a "1." 11.4% of all voters.
That's absurd.
