I taped this movie the other day, and today I decided to watch it. So i'm watching it, and I love it. Then it gets to the ending, right at the part where the lights go out, everybody leaves the house, and then the car blows up. But then my recording is finished, and I never got to see the end! So could someone please tell me what happened after that, because I loved the movie, and I really want to know what happened. Thanks everyone!
Clouseau says that they all set up the murder, Clouseau's boss goes insane and starts biteing Clouseau, Clouseau and Maria kiss until Kato comes and tackles them into the fountain. You didn't miss that match, only around 3 minutes
The first explanation you got was not very good. Just before the lights went out, all the occupants of the Balon household (Maria excluded) got into a big fight and basically revealed that each of them had done one murder or another (or played some part in it). You would have to watch it several times and listen carefully to figure out exactly what happened (which is not the point of the movie anyway). When the lights go out, all of the guilty ones take the opportunity to flee, and they all jump into the first available car, Clouseau's mini clunker. Unfortunately for them, and as you probably saw before your film stopped, Dreyfuss (whom Clouseau had by this point driven mad with his inanity) had set a bomb in the car, hoping to kill Clouseau. The car then blows up, killing the whole Balon household (Maria excluded), and Dreyfuss reveals to Clouseau that he had set the bomb, and killed the four people the night Clouseau and Maria had gone out on the town (each time missing Clouseau and killing an innocent bystander). At this point Dreyfuss goes absolutely raving, frothing at the mouth insane and starts to bit Clouseau on the leg. Finally, he is dragged off by Hercule, Clouseau's assistant. It ends with Clouseau kissing Maria passionately, until they are rudely interrupted by the unexpected attack of Kato (all of them falling into the pond where Clouseau fell the first night he was on the case). The End. Actually the best idea would be to rent/buy the video/DVD and watch it yourself.
Hey thanks Mark1589, I was only half-watching this film the other night and didn't actually pick up on all that at the end. Thanks for clearing that up, now it makes a whole lot more sense!
