Who sings the song and what is the title?

I have been searching for the title and performer name for the opening song. It goes something like this: "Why must we meet in the shadows of Paris" and why am I cold in the sunlight of Paris"
According to the credits H. Mancini should be the composer but I cant find the title and artist!
Thank you in advance.

It's called "Shadows of Paris"...

"Take Your Time, Leave Mine Alone!"

reply

The title (Shadows of Paris)and the artist are in the opening credits.

Music by Henry Mancini. Lyrics by Robert Wells. But the Credits don't say the singers name of the songs "Shadows of Paris." Get the sound tracks of Pink panther movies Henry Mancini.

I'm listening now to the song you were looking for, I've just bought the collection "The ultimate Pink Panther". The Shadow of Paris is a wonderful, stunning song but...I can't find the name of the singer. There's no credit about the singer in the booklet of the collection!
I suggest you to buy this collection, I don't remember any other Mancini's collection having "The shadow of Paris" inside.
Have a good time with wonderful music,
Chiara

The version of "The Shadows Of Paris" on The Ultimate Pink Panther is NOT the version from the film. The version on the CD & on a Cassette of Henry Mancini Music that I had is by an all male chorus & is no where near as good as the version in the movie sung by an unidentified woman! Who is she?

Has anyone tried this CD, it can be found at http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/catalog/soundtrackdetail.php?movieid=20067 . They actually might have the song from the movie:
10. A Shot In The Dark (02:32)
11. The Shadows Of Paris (02:57)
Tracks 10 & 11 - From "A Shot In The Dark"

The singer is Fran Jeffries :: source, IMDb

reply

According to this IMDB page, it's Fran Jeffries.

Which makes sense, since she appears in the original PINK PANTHER and sings that film's other song, "It Had Better Be Tonight."

reply

yes, it's Fran Jeffries who sings it, but her version of the song is not available on any official CD/cassette/record, which is a shame...

Actually the song (The shadows of Paris - Fran Jeffries) is available here for free:

I wish I had some confirmation that it's Fran Jeffries performance in the movie. Granted it's quite a different style song than "Meglio Stasera," but the performer's range sounds lower than when she sings "Meglio Stasera" in "The Pink Panther" and the performer's fairly wide and fast vibrato (or is that tremolo?) in "Shadows of Paris" seems different too.

I see IMDb and a blurb on last.fm both say it's her, but they disagree on the year she was in Playboy, so not too confidence inspiring.

I want it to be her because I like both movies and both songs and I want to picture her when I hear "Shadows of Paris" because she was gorgeous in "Pink Panther."

I found the singer Fran Jeffries, but there is another who might have sung the theme song. ELSIE BIANCHI who sings with her trio. I haven't heard the song, but here is a Youtube link;

Ms. Jeffries actually posed for Playboy twice: in 1971 at the age of 33 and in 1982 at the age of 45.
