This should fall under the Drama category, not Horror!

Anybody agree?

I agree 95%. 5% of me is telling me that this is in fact a horror movie with lots of drama, but the other 95% tells me there's no real horror here.

Yes, absolutely. Still a great film do.

To an extent, I think when it came out fifty years ago it would have been considered pretty Horrific.
I may not have found any of it intensely frightening, but I still found some of the parts quite creepy, such as the mother's breakdown at the end. So the way I see it, it's equally both lol. That's just my opinion.

It's (overrated) drama with a scary mask.

Hey Witchdoctor, give us the magic words.
ooh ee ooh ah ah, ting tang wallawallabingba

For the era, when atmosphere was everything (as opposed to gore) this qualified as "horror."

The definition has changed.

Maybe if you come to the conclusion the mask is cursed you could call the last 10 minutes horror. Mostly though its drama...

I expected this to be a horror. You have to wait quite a while to see the man with the mask and I thought that's when the horror elements would begin, but the man didn't seem all that frightening. Mostly it's a drama.

definitely a tragic drama.
