This scared me s***less

I watched this on BBC in 1980 when I was aupair in England, the parents had gone out when I heard some noise upstairs to find one of the sons sleepwalking hence acting like a zombie. This is probably not very interesting but it was one of the scariest nights I ever had. I've recorded the movie years ago on VHS but to this day haven't watched it for fear of finding it boring nowadays and spoiling this eery memory. The boy btw went on to be a Wimbledon tennis player ;-)

It didn't really scare me, but it did keep me very uneasy especially towards the ending.

That would be a freaky night. While I understand your concern on not wanting to spoil its memory, I vote you should watch this again. Im 22 and watched it only recently and though I wasnt screaming, for the next few weeks I had to run up the stairs after turning the lights out for the night.... (It's the parts in the field that got me)

Oh. Was the boy not English?

I liked the film... but I dunno if I'd call it one of the best horror films ever (It's one of the 101 Best Horror Films You Must See Before You Die book)
but I did enjoy it.

Trust me,

My, you're nosey, aren't you?

Thanks for the 101 tip!
I've seen everything except Valerie (1970), will look out for that one.
I loveOnibaba and Kuroneko, btw.

I'm not sure it's horror, but it's certainly horrific. This movie is deeply unsettling and great.

I didn't even thought it was a horror movie, but the last minutes had some real horror movie vibe to it. Great piece of work, though I wasn't sure what to think of the ending.

reply

Yes, I agree. Halloween is coming up in a month and I thought I would begin the month watching horror films and I started with this. I just finished watching this ten minutes ago and I was disappointed with the lack of horror in it.

reply

I don't know if i'd call it outright scary, but it was certainly unsettling, especially toward the end. I'd have had my nerves on edge too lol. Very effective movie.
