What a compelling experience!!


From the moment the film started, I was completely enthralled throughout this entire thing. Becoming more involved as the film went on, it gets really neat! This was an excellent piece of work, especially with some of the special effects and thematic material.

It really was. People tend to treat black and white movies like they aren't as good as color ones, or at least don't draw you in as well, but there are some black and white movies that are so well-made you don't even notice the difference. This is one of those movies.

I mentioned him because when it comes to compelling B&W films, he's the first to come to mind. However, Japan had a terrific New Wave in general.

Just watched this last night. I'm very glad I did. The moment the samurai appears in her hut is chilling.
