More make up on Eliza helped her get it right

That scene when she gets The Rain in Spain right, Eliza was looking lovelier than usual. She wore complete make-up as opposed to the previous scenes, which showed her sans any eye make-up. I thought, she's looking much prettier now, and so by George, she's going to get it right this time.

That's actually funny! Audrey normally wore a lot of make up around her eyes in her films. Cecil Beaton, the costume designer, convinced her to do away with it in the early scenes to make the film more authentic. Her transition to lady is also more stunning this way. Which is why you have Audrey in this film looking unlike most of the other film she did before or after. Her eyes were really not that big and had a younger, sadder look without makeup.
