Just a question

I want to know what the significance of people stopping is right before Eliza recalls Henry claiming that he could make her a duchess. People were walking, and at some point, they freezed, and other ones came by as the camera was going away. Beside the fact that it was brilliantly and beautifully shot and done which all the credit go to the direction, it actually made no sense to me. Would anybody here explain it to me?

I always thought that was an odd 'stagey' sort of thing to do in a movie. It seems sill and out of place.

"What do you want me to do, draw a picture? Spell it out!"

I guess it means Eliza's father POV, he was drunk and he occasinally saw people moving and also standing still, since he's the next one to show up after that scene.

It was ment to look like a stage play so people who could not fly to New York could know what Broadway looked like. That's why Music Man and Guys and Dolls also had that stag feel.
