So the director of "Beverly Hills Cop III", "Blues Brothers 2000" and "The Stupids" dismisses Anthony Mann's work?

I think it just shows how people, especially in the English speaking world, still look down on the "Epic".

What is the problem? He is being humorous and obviously loves the picture despite it being 'terrible'.

I accept that he loves it... as a "so-bad-it's-good" camp classic. But I don't think it's terrible and don't know why he think's it's terrible, however lovably terrible. With friends like that.... etc

I am not going to agree with him, teh film is great, but I don't think it is a big insult to the film.

It is the way he phrased it really. If his attack was scathing, it would have seemed more insulting.
