When I was a kid I had the comic book.

In a way it was an improvement on the film. No talking heads crap, the plot and action sequences were tighter, the "romance" was plot-driven and bereft of those long pointess cow-eyed strecthes. And BEST of all.....NO SOUND TRACK!!!

A good friend works for Diamond comics which has a branch (which he heads) that specializes in vintage comics. Unfortunately, they are almost exclusively involved with superheroe books like Superman and Spiderman. But they do run across other stuff. I have him looking for this, "The 300 Spartans" and especially "Jason and the Argonauts" which were other movie comics I had.

are more recent. I have the star wars trilogy/ 2010/dune/king kong 1976/Clash of the titans and others but unfortunately I don't have anything like what your talking about. i was a kid in the 80's so I guess I missed out on those great comics of the 50's and 60's
