Picayune, any yune. Technical military stuff

Tho' I liked the eerie use of negative shots of the planes, in the same scene they would show three or four types of jets when there would actually only have one type. E.g., the flight of U.S. fighters trying to shoot down the bomber. Similarly, they sometimes showed footage of a plane different from the B-58 Hustler they routinely showed. God knows why, because the USAF hyped the hell out of that bird (sonic booms over NYC, intercontinental speed records, etc.) with plenty of promotional and news film to choose from. I saw this when it came out, when I was 14. And even a lot of boys my age knew this jet stuff cold, so it seemed a bit negligent.

Also, they should have made it clear (as I assume) that the final attempt to launch "missiles" above the last bomber were nuclear missiles, not just conventional anti-aircraft. They did say it would create "thermonuclear shield", but they missed out on an impressive tactic and the "fallout" it would have on those on the ground in Russia.
