How about unearthing this for DVD?

This is the only Hammer Films mummy movie not to have a DVD release. In fact, it's never had a home video release here in the U.S.. This is actually a sturdy little thriller from Hammer, and holds up well...especially when seen in its original widescreen format. (Thank you, AMC. Even though you've become incredibly generic in the last few years, at least when you do Hammer you do it right!) If Columbia Pictures (who hold the U.S. rights to it) are afraid it might not draw enough of an audience on its own, they could make it a double bill with their other Hammer title awaiting a DVD release, THE GORGON. Given the steep pricing practices of Columbia on their classic horror titles (especially when compared to the recent wave of Universal horror classics, or the Warner Bros. releases of their Hammer library), a double feature would make the pill a little easier to swallow.

How about unearthing A LOT of older films for DVD!

What a treasure trove of great old films that no one can see unless they keep track of the tv guide film listings and keep VCRs constantly at the ready.

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing.

This is a great film. I remember it as a kid. Double bill with the Gorgon - perfect. Where can I can this in DVD? Ellington or Duke? if it ain't got that swing.... do dot di dot, do dot di dot.....101 Great riff.

This has now been announced for release in Region 2 (UK and Europe) for late October from Sony.

A U.K. release does nothing for us here in the U.S. I have a pretty large Hammer collection (32 films in all), including all of the Dracula films, Frankenstein films ... but I have only three of the Hammer Mummy films, including "The Mummy," "The Mummy's Shroud," and "Blood from the Mummy's Tomb." I want this one, too. "The Gorgon" would also be nice.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be releasing this film on Region 1 DVD on October 14 as part of a Hammer horror box set that will also include "The Gorgon," "A Taste of Fear," and "The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll." Extras will include theatrical trailers and commentaries.
