Awful awful name
Sad how the silly title belittled real artistic merit. Julie and Melvyn are seriously excellent, and the subject matter was quite real, quite serious.
Just awful cutesy title undermined the expectations IMO.

What would your suggestions be to improve the title? This link might help explain the title.

just curious.
I'd have gone with something that didn't strain to reduce plot to a single phrase... something a bit poetic perhaps. The Innocents.
shareAhh, but they were anything but innocent... life had been shredded right before their eyes with the War. Doncha think?
shareThe Innocents just wouldn't do.
That title was already slapped onto another movie in 1961. It was based on a novella called, The Turn of the Screw.
"Fasten your seat belts!
It's going to be a bumpy night!"
The First Man to Die on Omaha Beach
shareIn Swedish it's called "War and Cowardness or the First man on Omaha" which is way worse :)

At one point it was re-released some yrs later under the title of just plain
"EMILY" much as it had the real title listed below.
Every so often back then they would do this with certain films.
