Did anybody else think that this movie resembled one of Frederico Fellini's films?

Indeed the direction had a Fellini colour! I hadn't thought of it but now that you say it...

Italian Neorelism and later Fellini had a huge impact on the Greek film production of the 60's and 70's, though Kakogiannis' screening is much more personal and slightly elitistic while lacks of the dreamy phantasmagoria of Fellini. I would even dare to say that Fellini himself seems to be a little influenced by the works of Kazantakis (the writer of the book which was the base for the film)
