Alexis Zorbas or Zorba the Greek?

Apparently "Alexis Zorbas" is how this movie is known in Greece and since this film is a co-production with Greece, then that could be the reason why it has been listed that way on IMDb.
However the opening credits clearly says "Zorba the Greek"
Alexis Zorbas is the original title of the novel. Since all the characters in the novel except Mme Hortense are Greek, "Zorba the Greek" would have been a pretty stupid title.
This is not a sig. It's just so you don't think the last line of my post was a sig.
1. It is useful to point out that the English translation of the novel had always been published under the title Zorba the Greek.
2. Going back to the question raised by the OP, apparently many users here still do not know how to make use of the features of the IMDb site. In the case of foreign films, whether the English titles or the foreign language titles (e.g., Chinese, German, Spanish, French, etc.) are displayed on the IMDb webpage depends on your choice of your "site preferences". Assuming you are registered in IMDb, log on to your own account. Then under "Personalize", click the first item which is "Update your site preferences". Then look at the last item "Title display default" and make your choice.
3. If you choose "Original", then for foreign films you would see on the webpage the original foreign titles (in this case Alexis Zorbas). If you choose "English" which is currently the same as "IMDb default", you see from the webpage the English title (in this case Zorba the Greek). This would be true for the page of any film you look at in the future, until you reset your preference.
