Most Underrated Movie Ever...?

This was instantly one of the best movies I had ever seen and one of my favorites, but I had only heard of it after I heard the soundtrack(and Zorba's Dance or whatever it was called). I wish more people had heard of it/seen it, because it is really great. It deserves a spot in the IMDB 250.

I agree with you. The music has been composed by Mikis Theodorakis, one of the most influential personalities of the 20th century. He is the one that composed the music for Serpico.

this movie is pure gold. with 'Blow-up' & 'Clockwork orange', definitely the best ever

teach me to dance....will you?

Well, it's quite obvious that people have different preferences...I just saw this film after having heard of it for almost my entire life - and I have to say it was one of the most overrated films I've ever seen. In fact it made me wish I had never started to view it...I certainly would have felt better then. Honestly I don't understand what the point was...it was a very "feel bad" film, to say the least.

I'd give this film 2 points out of 10...

vinter, you are a ridiculous troll.

the ending of this film ALONE warrants it to be in the top 250. of course, it requires the rest of the movie to work, but still, the ending. amazing movie.

Well, everyone is entitled to an opinion - and I'll refrain from calling you the name you apparently deserve!

This film is definitely one of the most overrated films ever - in fact it stands on my list as one of the worst films ever. How can anyone who calls himself sane regard a movie where a bunch of retarded men are cutting the throat of an innocent woman a good film? It makes me sick, and if that makes me a ridiculous troll so be it.

However, I realise the intellectual level of some people are too low to be measured, so I won't argue with you. Crap is crap, even if it's being served on golden plates!

wow

This film is way more appreciated outside of USA perhaps because it feels more universal, not so americana.

IMO Zorba the Greek deserved the Oscar for BP, plus Anthony Quinn definitively deserved the academy award for best actor over Rex Harrison. That is one of the biggest mistakes ever made by the Academy. Even Peter O'Toole or Richard Burton deserved it more than Rex.

Zorba is a masterwork that should be seen by anyone who dares to call himself/herself a true cinephile.

reply

Cool down, its not that good.

reply

No it's not underrated. It's alright. Not all that memorable. And a bit hollow.

reply

As I rated it 3 out of 10, I obviously consider it vastly over-rated.
