Zorba The Greek In Colour

Was browsing Youtube and found that someone has painstakingly recreated the last couple minutes of Zorba The Greek In Colour. Even though its an amature job i think its fantastic work.
Just goes to show that 20th Century Fox could colour this whole film in. My question is would you want a coloured version?

While I think the filming locations would have looked fantastic if they were originally filmed in colour, this movie works best in black & white as it evokes the bleakness of many of the characters and situations. Most of the clothing and buildings would naturally be in black or white anyway.

But to answer your question, no, I would not like to see this film colorized, nor would I want to see any film originally made in black and white colorized.

This film had won Oscars for the following:

1. Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Black-and-White
(Vassilis Photopoulos), and

2. Best Cinematography, Black-and-White
(Walter Lassally)

Numerous critcs had pointed out that filming in B&W was particularly effective in showing the stark Cretan landscape and establishing the atmosphere for the film. It was too bad that some kid in YouTube - who obviously had difficulty in accepting anything without color or CGI - had chosen to mess with it. It was not an "amature" job, and not "amateur" either. I would rather call it immature. Colorization would just destroy the film.

Haha holy sh i t, get over yourself. I loved this movie, especially the B&W, but always wondered what the lovely seascape would have looked like in color.
