Times when Lily overreacted

I love the whole family, but there are times when Lily overreacted a lot. For me, one of her biggest overreactions would be in Don't Bank on Herman. She could have just asked Herman how he got that much money when they only had $680. Instead, she smarted off and yelled at him, calling him names. Have any more?

reply

Someone had to be the adult in that house, and Lily was it!

reply

Agreed, but she still overreacted quite a lot.

reply

I don't know about that. I always thought Marilyn was the most 'adult' one in the household, although I always wondered how she could have been dense enough to consider herself homely or plain looking.

reply

hmmm Marilyn probably blends in with the rest of Mockingbird Heights better than the rest of her family - and yet she feels inferior to them in terms of appearance - which probably means that there's nobody else around Mockingbird Heights suitable for her because nobody measures up to Munster standards, right?

Lily overreacts a couple of other times - like when Spot runs away from home - and she keeps throwing Herman out of the house when he doesn't return with Spot - or when Herman mistakes the bear cub in the woods for Eddie - after Eddie runs away from home - and then Lily explodes with jealousy after she forces Herman to return the bear cub to its mother and finds Herman dancing with her in the woods.

Mellow Salutations!

Episodes where Lily overreacted.

Don't Bank on Herman
Follow That Munster
Love Locked Out
Herman's Child Psychology
Herman, the Master Spy
Herman's Peace Offensive
Cyrano De Munster
Herman's Sorority Caper

reply

Her thoughts on being unattractive are probably like the woman in The Twilight Zone episode titled Eye of the Beholder. They talk about how they've tried again to fix her appearance, but it might not work. In the end we find that she's beautiful by normal standard and everyone else is hideous, but that's what makes her hideous to them. Lily isn't as "pretty" as her own family, by their standards.

Lily overrreacted when Herman had his song played on the radio and thought he'd become famous. Remember "my toe bone is connected to my foot bone"?

Lily had a dream that Herman became a big star and divorced her. She was so angry at Herman. But it was HER dream.

reply

when Lily catches Herman dancing with Olga the Bear... what a gas!

Oops! I was thinking of the niece, not Lily, when I wrote my reply.
