This TV broadcast OTA February 5, 2014 2:00am PST

Watching it now, it's about half-way through. So far it's pretty good.

In today's world which has a completely different set of international threats and homegrown extremist groups as well, of various convictions, the Cold War sentiments in this movie's time era are dated, but the Cuban missile crisis (October 1962) was just a few months previously. Soviet premier Khrushchev had ended most of the murderous internal purges against his own USSR populations but Khrushchev was nevertheless very aggressively anti-US and anti-democracy. This movie is a good window on how the tenuous peace of that era in history could so have easily caused widespread panic and deaths.

It is showing again, it came on at midnight on This TV. I bet they will show it again in the next few days.

Don't Make Me Have to Release the Flying Monkeys!

It was on like 5 or 6 times on THIS and once or twice on COZI. I have a videotape copy of this film from about 1985 shown on the Nostalgia Channel. I truly love this movie and wonder why no one has ever re-made it, or made it available on video (DVD or VHS). Sad that some gems slip away. Another from that channel is "Blue Denim." Some very popular stars.
