Fallout shelters

In 1960 I made a fallout shelter out of sugar cubes for my Junior High science fair.
I remember people were scared of the topic and did not ask questions.
Years later there was the Cuban crisis. Many shelters were built then.
I was always fascinated by the possibility of nuclear war.
Went so far as to join the nuclear submarine navy and
become a nuclear weapons tech.
I feel that it was a mistake to avoid their use in Viet Nam.
Other movies like this ; "Countdown to Looking Glass" and "Threads",

I know that seems like a terrible thing for the OP to have said. Today Vietnam seems like a pleasant and peaceful place once the American's got out. It's also an American, Australian and European tourist destination now.

I would love to one day ride a motorbike through downtown Saigon like those videos you see on Youtube. Seems kind of scary, but fun.
