Such a beautiful film

Was re-watching this the other day and struck anew by how stunning this film is. Every frame you could put in the wall as a picture. It inspires me to go out and take lots of photos, and then leaves me depressed by how poor my photos are and will always be.

Just re-watched this myself, and I'm inclined to agree. The night scenes are especially amazing, lots of high contrast and it doesn't look like a cheesy set. James Wong Howe deserved his Oscar that year. Sad film, but easily one of my favorites.

Agree wholeheartedly. The scorched earth and desolate Texas landscape captured beautifully by James Wong howe... I captured hundreds of caps from the movie...

James Wong Howe lived his own life, but...I dunno, for me his work practically made that film the valuable piece of work that it is.

No argument here. James Wong Howe outdid himself.
